Europa-Park is a theme park and leisure complex located in Rust in the Eurodistrict of Strasbourg Ortenau in Germany, at equal distance from the cities of Freiburg im Breisgau and Strasbourg. Founded by the Mack family (owners of the Mack Rides company), it was inaugurated on July 12, 1975.
The park has 59 attractions and a hotel complex with a total of 5,800 beds; it is the largest theme park and hotel complex in Germany.
With 2.5 million admissions in 2020, the year of the Covid2 pandemic, Europa-Park is the third most visited theme park in Europe, behind Disneyland. The Efteling is in the lead. With 5.7 million admissions in 20195 , it is now in second place behind Disneyland. From 2014 to 2022, it was voted the best amusement park in the world by the American reference magazine Amusement Today. It is one of the theme parks in Europe to have been distinguished by a Thea Classic Awards, awarded by the Themed Entertainment Association.
