The Crètes des Vosges road and its dreamy landscapes

The road of the Crètes des Vosges

The Route des Crêtes

This magnificent tourist route, linking Cernay to Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, allows you to admire the most characteristic landscapes of the Vosges mountain range, its passes, its balloons, its lakes, its stubble fields and offers unforgettable panoramas.
It passes from north to south through the Bonhomme pass, the Schlucht pass, the Hohneck massif, the Markstein, the Grand Ballon and the Vieil Armand. Its highest point is at 1 343 m at the Grand Ballon pass.

The Route des Crêtes des Vosges: a dream itinerary for those who dream of taking the high road. Parallel to the Wine Route, the panoramic road follows the highest peaks of the Vosges, along the border between Alsace and Lorraine. The road runs north-south, sometimes on the Lorraine side of the Vosges, sometimes on the Alsace side. It becomes exclusively Alsatian from the Rainkopf. In many places, it offers beautiful views of the Vosges mountains, the Alsace plain and the Black Forest and Jura mountains. But few people know that this bucolic road was laid out during the 1914-1918 war by the French High Command. Follow the guide from the Bonhomme pass to Thann.
Technically, the Route des Crêtes stretches from Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines to the plain village of Uffholtz. While walking it, you will discover different landscapes, alternating forests with varied species and high altitude pastures.

in summer a shuttle will allow you to reach the summit of the Schlucht pass from Colmar.
You will discover a preserved but fragile nature. Thanks to the tourist shuttle of the crests you will cross the imposing landscapes of the Grande Crête des Vosges.
Forget the car and relax!
